About Us - Enrica Viganò
Enrica Viganò is an independent curator, art critic and journalist. From 1992 to 1997 she manages the Diaframma Kodak Cultura Gallery - in 1997, in Milan, she founds ADMIRA, a studio specialized in the conception, production and organization of exhibitions and cultural events, with a focus on the world of photography.
In 2003, Enrica Viganò’s project expanded with the establishment of the publishing house ADMIRA EDIZIONI, specialized in photography publications. The birth of the cultural association ADMIRA + dates back to 2009.
With ADMIRA, Enrica Viganò builds a network of collaborations both in Italy and internationally. She has been collaborating from 1998 with PHotoEspaña, with different roles over the years, as guest curator, responsible for international projects and director of Campus PHE. She has directed FOTO&PHOTO – an international photography festival of Cesano Maderno, near Milan from 2001 to 2009. In 2011 she was entrusted with the artistic direction of ClicArt - a gallery dedicated to emerging photography, sponsored by the Zucchi textile industry and by the agency Marka. She is a member of the Advisory Committee of MIA - Milan Image Fair, in Italy, since its first edition in 2011. In 2013 she created CODICE MIA, a portfolio review for mid-career artists who can interact with collectors at an international level.
Enrica Viganò has curated hundreds of exhibitions, many of them with international presence. Among these, the solo exhibitions of Edward Burtynsky, Mario Giacomelli, Luigi Ghirri, Nino Migliori, Mauro Fiorese, Chema Madoz, Duane Michals, Eugene Smith (for this exhibition she was nominated among the finalists of the Lucie Awards), Lewis Hine, Miroslav Tichy, Virxilio Vieitez, Robert Frank, Larry Fink, Saul Leiter, Ragnar Axelsson, Mike Brodie, Charlotte Perriand. She has also curated international group exhibitions such as Photo League: New York 1936-1951, Fashion Written by Light and NeoRealismo. The new image in Italy 1932-1960. In 2018 the NeoRealismo exhibition has traveled overseas: the corpus of the photographic exhibition was displayed at the Grey Art Gallery, New York University, while the section dedicated to the neorealistic cinema was presented at the Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimò.
Enrica Viganò has participated as a juror in numerous photo competitions in Italy and abroad. These include the W. Eugene Smith Memorial Fund and the Sony World Photography Awards. She is Nominator of the Prix Pictet since 2011 and she has been invited as an expert in portfolio reviews all over the world: in Arles, France (Les Rencontres de la photographie d’Arles), in Houston, USA (FotoFest International), in Madrid (PHotoEspaña) and then in Greece, Denmark, Poland, Germany, Argentina and Sweden. She is member of several Scientific Committees within photographic institutions such as the Nino Migliori Foundation.
Since 2005, she is a member of Oracle, the international association of photography curators, which includes the most important museums and institutions in the field from all over the world.
Member of the National Order of Journalists since 2000, she has written articles for various magazines and she has edited over 30 books, including: Duane Michals habla con Enrica Viganò (2001); Mario Giacomelli, La collezione della città di Lonato (2003), first publication work for ADMIRA EDIZIONI; Romano Cagnoni, Chiaroscuro (2003); W.
